Our Planet earth has lot of amazing and stunning places. Some are natural and others man made. These places are a must visit and they make us dumbfounded. We are listing a few in this post.
1. Helmcken Falls, Canada
Helmcken Falls is a 141 m high waterfall in British Colombia, Canada. Helmcken Falls is the fourth highest waterfall in Canada, measured by total straight drop without a break. It is within the Wells Grey Provincial Park. Most tourists see Helmcken Falls in summer.
A winter visit is worthwhile because the ice cone at the base often grows to 50 m tall and sometimes even higher in very cold snowy winters. It has occasionally been seen reaching halfway up the falls. The best time to view the ice cone is from late January to the end of February. The cone collapses inward sometime during March and some remnants are still visible in June.The road is ploughed and sanded in winter and volunteers maintain the trails. Snow tires are essential and tire chains are recommended as a safety precaution. A network of groomed and tracked cross-country ski trails starts near Dawson Falls.
2. Mt.Roraima, Venezuela
Mount Roraima is the highest of the Pakaraima Chain of Tepui Plateau in South America. The tabletop mountains of the park are considered some of the oldest geological formations on Earth. From Paraitepui, most hikers take two days to reach the base of the mountain, and then another day to follow “La Rampa,” a natural staircase-like path, up to the top. Another two days are typically needed for the return, and many people spend one day and night on top of the mountain, making six days in total. There are many examples of unique fauna atop Mount Roraima.
3. Danxia land form, China
This is a unique geological phenomenon known as Danxia land form. These phenomena can be observed in several places in south east China. This example is located in Zhangye, Province of Gansu. The color is the result of an accumulation for millions of years of red sandstone and other rocks. As the landform gets older, valleys widen and one gets isolated towers and ridges. Danxia lanform are formed from red standstone and conglomerates and are characterised by steep cliff which are caused by uplift, weathering and erosion.
4. The Marble Caves of Patagonia, Chile
These marble caves are beautiful vibrant blue caverns, partially submerged in the equally stunning turquoise waters of Carrera Lake. The lake is on the border of Argentina and Chile, with the caves located on the Chilean side. The caves are comprised of three main caverns: the Chapel (La Capilla), the Cathedral (El Catedral), and the Cave (La Cueva). Visitors to the caves can explore them in a small boat or kayak, but only when Carrera Lake’s waters are calm and gentle. A rare and invaluable natural wonder, the existence of these caves is currently threatened by plans to build five large dams in the area.
5. Antelope Canyon, Arizona
Antelope Canyon is located near Page, Arizona and is a popular place for photographers. It’s a unique slot canyon, a narrow canyon formed usually by water eroding the the rock away, that is quite beautiful. This is a good spot to get some great pictures, but make sure you time it right if you are trying to catch a chance to photograph the beams of light coming through the cracks. Summer months for the upper canyon are ideal for getting the best beams while the early morning or late afternoon are better for photographing the lower canyon.
6. Tavarua Island, Fiji, Oceania
Tavarua is a heart shaped island resort in Fiji. It has an area of 29 acres. The island is close to the main Fijian island, Viti Levu, and is surrounded by a coral reef. Activities on Tavarua include surfing, sport fishing, scuba diving, snorkelling and kayaking. There is also a pool, spa, workout facility and tennis court along with a restaurant facility and two bars.
7. The Twelve Apostles, Australia
The Twelve Apostles is a collection of limestone stacks off the shore of the Port Campbell National Park, by the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, Australia. They were created by constant erosion of the limestone cliffs from mainland beginning 10-20 million years ago, the stormy Southern Ocean and blasting winds gradually eroded the softer limestone, forming caves in the cliffs. The caves eventually became arches and when they collapsed rock stacks up to 45 meters high were left isolated from the shore. View of the 12 Apostles at sunrise and sunset as they change colour from dark and foreboding in shadow to brilliant sandy yellow under a full sun.
8. The Pinnacles, Cervantes, Western Australia
The Pinnacles are limestone formations contained within Nambung National Park, near the town of Cervantes, Western Australia. They are also known as the Rockstars in the Outback and is an ideal day trip from Perth. Nambung is an Aboriginal word that means crooked or winding and it was from this river that the park was named. Its heights starts from centimeters to up-to 5 meters.
9. Black Rock Desert, Nevada, US
The Black Rock Desert is an arid region of lava beds and playa, or alkali flats, situated in the Black Rock Desert-High Rock Canyon Emigrant Trails. Located in Nevada in US and is a location for annual Burning Man festival.
10. Sky Bridge in Langkawi, Malaysia
This suspended bridge is built on top of the Machinchang mountain, and is known as Lankgawi Sky Bridge in Malaysia. Accessible from the Top Station, the bridge is suspended from a 82m high single pylon and hangs at about 100m above ground. The structure ranks among the world’s longest curve suspension bridge.
11. Cinque Terre, Northern Italy
This is a small town in Northern Italy and is the second smallest of the famous Cinque Terre towns frequented by tourists.
12. Morning Glory Pool, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
Morning Glory Pool is a hot spring in the Upper Geyser Basin of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming in the United States. The distinct colour of the pool is due to bacteria which inhabit the water. On a few rare occasions the Morning Glory Pool has erupted as a geyser, usually following an earthquake or other nearby seismic activity. It attracts the tourist from all over the world with its beautiful colours.
